My Vanity Corner
So I moved to a new place and I want to share my favorite things in my favorite part of the room….

This is no ordinary mirror. Why? Because I have been looking all over SG for this only to have my sister purchase this at Metro department store in Market Market! LOL! Isn’t she the sweetest? I got this during my 48-hour trip to Davao last November 2010. Short story: Ate brought it to Davao and from there I took it to SG. I think there are a few bulbs that need to be replaced already and I will ask my personal handyman to take a look

I keep my supplies and hair stuff in this Andy Drawer from Ikea. Before I set up this little corner, I kept all my make-up here. I was so sad that I did not see any Andy during my last trips to Ikea. The one they had is not really the same plus it did not have wheels.

My Pigments. Yes, I admit that I do not really use these like everyday or even every week but look at them! One day I tell you, these will come in handy. One day my friends and I will attend a fab party and they will be thankful I had these!

My personal brushes that need cleaning. Sorry. Moving on…

Nail Lacquers! I used to have a LOT of OPI Minis but I gave them all to Ate because I discovered that MAC Nail Lacquers last longer. I was surprised with this discovery, really! I still have two from OPI (for French Tips) plus the 2-in-1 Top/Base Coat.

Everything else. So nice the container right? I got that from where else! IKEA! Okay, I’ll be honest. Just between you and me, this is not really “everything else.” Everything else is in the Andy drawer and the train case beside that but these are the items I use almost everyday so they need to be accessible like that
And now you know why I this is my favorite part of the room! ♥
MAC Wonder Woman Collection
I took these photos last March when the collection came out but I just did not have time to post it. I know, right?! Oh well, better late than never.
I kept the boxes. Hihihih!
I was not able to include the other 3 shades of the Mineralize Skinfinish
My favorite? These two. They are always on top when I try to choose my nail lacquer of the week.
Overall, I think there was too much hype over this collection. I probably have only used the palettes once since I bought them. I actually promised myself to stop buying eyeshadows earlier this year. But with a packaging like this, who can resist?

Halloween Make-up for Mad Doctor Celeste and Undead Police Woman Bridget
Make-up Makes Me Happy
Each time I have a make-up gig, I always have this overflowing feeling of exuberance! Though it was a Sunday, I did not dread the next day. I felt like I could take on another workweek of overflowing tasks in the office. I wish this feeling will last all week though…
Then while Randy and I were having early dinner after doing the make-up of Trish today, I thought “hey, why not make a Facebook Page?” And I did just that!
*wink*
Jasmine and Selena
It is not so easy to find excellent customer service around here. Most people in shops are snobbish and not very helpful. It is very common of them to immediately judge you. If they deem you as someone who is not really going to purchase anything, they aren’t that much of a help. They do not even try to think that this certain customer can actually come back and make a purchase and/or spread the word to her peers. Well not all stores have this kind of staff…maybe around 60-75% and my haven that is MAC is not an exception!
It took me more than a year of hopping around from one MAC branch to another when I finally figured where the best branch is located – MAC Tangs Orchard. The Artists in this branch are quite pleasant, very accommodating and quite knowledgeable with their products. It’s a Pro store so I get my 20% discount. The only other Pro store (for now) is at Ngee Ann City and believe me, I try to avoid that branch as much as I can! I only go there when I buy empty palettes and refills because they don’t have it at Tangs.
I am at home at MAC Tangs Orchard and these two ladies made it easier for me to revisit this branch. Meet my favorite MAC Artists, Jasmine and Selena.
Jasmine had to stoop down because although she is already tall (at least for my standards), she was wearing platform shoes when these photos were taken! LOL!
I always make sure that one of them is around whenever I make a purchase. They help me decide on the best option and they do not at all talk me into buying something expensive that is not fit for my skin or taste. I appreciate that very much. When I see that neither one of them is present, I just opt to come back on another day. That’s why I was so sad to find out that they will be moving to different stores by the end of the month! Selena is going to the branch at Isetan Scotts, right across the street while Jasmine will be in a new Pro store at Raffles Place. I guess I’m just going to have to change my post-work MRT (MAC Retail Therapy – a term Claude came up with over coffee) routine.
So there, if you find yourself in one of those branches, look for Selena at Isetan Scotts and Jasmine at Raffles Place (not Raffle City, take note!). But they are still at Tangs Orchard up to the end of the month. They are super nice, promise!
Back to MAC
In my previous entry, I posted my depotted eyeshadows.
If you are wondering what I did with my empty containers, I exchanged them for these…

L to R: Russian Red (Matte), Plumful (Lustre), Stay in Touch (Cremesheen), Bombshell (Frost), Pink Nouveau (Satin) and Dubonnet (Amplified)

(My friend, Claude took this photo and she told me to pose like I’m making an inspection of some sort. I obviously obliged. Hahahah!)
Back to MAC is MAC’s Recycling Program:
“Because we share your commitment to the environment, M·A·C accepts returns of its primary packaging through the Back to M·A·C Program. By returning six [6] M·A·C primary packaging containers to a M·A·C counter or M·A·C Cosmetics online, you’ll receive a free M·A·C lipstick of your choice as our thanks to you.”
-MAC Website
As you may have noticed, I adore MAC! Not only do they have pigmented high quality products in relatively cheaper (compared to other high-end brands) price, they also have environmental and humanitarian (Viva Glam) causes.
MAC is awesome!
Why I Stayed at Home on a Friday Night?
Because I wanted to depot as many eyeshadows as I could…
The end result?
I have a few more “homeless” eyeshadows but I can put them off until the next “batch” of depotting. Phew! It was past midnight by the time I finished.
Though I did have a little mishap…
But all is good.
I have already accepted the risks from the first time I depotted eyeshadows with the help of my flatmate, Chelot.
The damaged area looks like a flower..see?
Cute pa rin so I can live with that.
If you want to learn how to depot your MAC eyeshadows, Youtube is your friend! Just search and you’ll end up with two options (Hmmm, maybe more but these are the most common): (1) using a lighter or candle and (2) using a hair-straightener AKA plantsa. I have been doing the first method (with Chelot’s help because I am scared of lighters) and it was only last night that I used a hair-straightener and I found it more convenient.
I know MAC eyeshadows have cute little containers but I feel like they don’t have much “exposure” when they are not arranged in a palette. And as a result, I tend to forget about certain shades.
Toodles!
OPI Burlesque

Venomous Villains
Because princesses are overrated…
Love this backdrop at MAC Tangs Orchard
Promise, I didn’t get all of them…

(I kept these boxes even though I know I’ll never use them ever again )

I didn’t get any Maleficent and I am regretting it now that they are all sold-out.
