MAC Love That Look Collection Brushes
This collection only has two brushes. These two are both for the eyes and also permanent (meaning not limited edition
)
Here’s a closer look…
The September Issue
Are you as excited as I am?
The September Issue revolves around Anna Wintour, Vogue’s EIC for 20 years and of course, the making of Vogue September 2007, the heaviest September issue to date! Director R.J. Cutler, takes us close the the “Lukewarm Royalty with a whip from outer space”
Luv it!
I do hope they release it soon in SG! More often than not, movies come out late here.
For now, I will settle with the REAL September Issue!
The Body Shop Soft Hands Kind Heart Hand Cream
Human Trafficking. We have all heard this term. Do we really understand it? It is inhumane enough that people are being forced to work against there will but do you know that there is more to this? Do you know what are the extremes of such human violation?
I have to admit, my eyes were not really that wide open on this issue. That was until I saw the movie Taken. It is about this man who really fought for her daughter who has become a victim of human trafficking. That was how I saw the seriousness of the situation and how powerful people can also gain from such barbaric ways. Of course, that was a movie. I can only imagine how it truly is in real life.
I was walking around the mall near the office when I saw this in front of The Body Shop. I went closer and tried it on my hand and I thought “Hmmm, not bad.” Then I saw a booklet beside it and became more interested in the product.
I learned the for every Soft Hands Kind Heart Hand Cream sold, the amount goes to ECPAT (End Child Prostitution, Child Pornograpy and the Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes) and their international partners. For the amount of 19.90 SGD, not only will your hands feel soft and smell great, you are also helping out on this campaign.
Some facts on trafficking from the booklet that I ended up getting for free:
- Human trafficking is the third largest and fastest growing criminal industry in the world
- 1.8 million children are exploited in the global commercial sex trade though this figure is thought to be much higher due to the underground dealing of the traffickers
- Reports show that sexual exploitation is the most likely purpose of trafficking
- Trafficking exists in countries all over the world. It doesn’t only exists in the poorest countries
I ask you this…What are YOU doing to make a difference?
Purchasing this product is one way of doing it. You can also make a donation to EPCAT
And in your own little way, learn about the facts of this issue, spread the word and help your friends and family become aware of human trafficking.
MAC Colour Craft Collection Brushes
MAC Colour Craft Collection has a number of mineralized make-up – from blushes, to powder and eye shadow. They were quite tempting but I chose to stick with the brushes. This is what I plan to do for now until who knows when – just purchase the brushes in the collection and skip the make-up…Well, I can make some exceptions but it really depends.
In Colour Craft, there are three brushes – two for the face and one for the eyes.
Look closer…
Matte Nail Lacquer
Yes, you read that right. Matte. As in no gloss, no shine, no shimmer…just matte.
I first read about matte nail lacquer a couple months ago in an issue of Allure.
And yey, finally got one!

OPI Matte Nail Lacquer in Russian Navy
(pardon the maze that is my uber dry palm)
It is a lot different than your normal glossy kind. For one, it dries instantly. You will be amazed on the transformation from wet to dry! It is after all, matte and it looks different when dry. The downside is that you need to apply it really quickly because once it dries up and you only covered half of the nail, it will not look even once you finish off the other half. It is a bit more complicated than your normal nail lacquer but it is easy to get used to.
The little leaflet that comes with it says…
- Matte by OPI does not wear as long as original OPI Nail Lacquer
- Do not use base coat, top coat, drying products, or hand lotion when wearing Matte.
- Do an all Matte nail. Or do a Matte nail with a matching Gloss tip
I have to say that the first two bullets are quite true. As you can see in the picture above, my hands are dry. That means hand lotion is a must! I apply hand lotion every couple of hours and whenever I wash my hands so at the end of the day, my nails no longer looked like that. Conversely, my toe nails are still as cute as matte can be! I love looking at them during Yoga. Ugh! I just sounded like Rebecca Bloomwood right there! Hahahah!
Price: 23.55 SGD
Quote from the BF aka Randy aka Dee when I showed him my nails: “It looks like you used Sharpie”
It kinda does, doesn’t it?
Matte Nail Lacquer, IN or OUT?
You be the judge.
Please bear with me…
Ciao Bellas!
I’m am currently transferring all the photos of this blog to my Flickr account. I realized that my beauty blog should have high quality images so since I have a Pro Flickr account with unlimited possibilities, why not dump everything there right?
Easier said than done.
I wanted to standardize all the photos (past, present future) – except for those files that I could not find the original copy (there are a couple). Standard meaning fixed size (“Medium” and “Small”) and a subtle watermark at the lower right corner. I thought I can achieve this in one afternoon but oh no! Turns out, this very young beauty blog has more than 50 images already! Resize, Watermark, upload to Flickr and edit the blog posts to link to the Flickr image…I did not really imagine it would take me this long (plus of course weekend came and I went out with friends).
So please stay tuned.
Below are some topics that I will talk about this week…
- Matte nail polish
- New MAC brushes
- Latest from TBS
Sound interesting? Hang in there!
I’ll be done soon!
For now, I am going to bed so I can attend a morning Yoga class and be energized to finish working on the photos by Monday COB. Crossing my fingers!
Talk to you later!
PS: Yes, I am OC like that
ION Orchard
I have been quite excited for the ION Orchard mall to open and it finally did!
Check it…right next to Orchard MRT:
Walking Back…
Oh hello!
Sorry for being MIA. Again.
I was on night shift for two weeks. And although it was my last, I did not feel so normal. So really, that’s my excuse.
I have a number of entries in my mind. Already took the photos for those so that’s a start, right? I’ll compose my entries when I switch on my laptop because I have not done that in a while (both – switching on my laptop and posting here.)
I’m blogging from my iPhone now and I thought of sharing this sulit purchase from yesterday…
Not make-up but it still encompasses my vanity so this post is valid
I was just complaining to Weng that I need new shoes when we stumbled upon the Tangs sale at VivoCity. I only paid 15 dollars for these Tangerine (that’s the brand) beige (that’s the color) flats. As of today’s conversion rate, that’s 494.26 pesos. It would have been 5 dollars if I claimed my points (which I did later on my MAC Love That Look purchase. Will talk about that some other time…I always say that, don’t I?)
I’ll wear these comfy flats to Lady Gaga’s SG concert tonight! Heard the Manila leg was a blast! Can’t wait for 8PM! Woot! Woot!
